RBC Insurance Partners with Medical Confidence for One-on-One Client Support and Advocacy Leading to Quicker Recovery Times

TORONTO, December 8, 2016 – Nobody can ever be fully prepared to receive that unwelcome medical diagnosis that leaves patients in shock and scared for the future. It can all be overwhelming, leaving patients emotionally and physically drained. To help Canadians with their healthcare challenges, RBC Insurance has partnered with Medical Confidence to directly offer our clients tailored support to help them get back on their feet as soon as possible.

This is the latest step in RBC Insurance’s focus on providing valuable programs to help clients manage their healthcare needs so they recover faster. With Medical Confidence, RBC Insurance clients will receive support for their healthcare needs including: healthcare navigation, one-on-one support from a registered nurse, guidance and support in finding ideal and available treating specialists, assisting them through the referral process, scheduling appointments, and preparing them for their appointments.

“RBC Insurance’s partnership with Medical Confidence is all about helping our clients when they need us the most,” said Cathy Preston, vice-president, individual markets, RBC Insurance. “We see clients unable to work or even manage their daily activities as they struggle with their medical conditions. By actively getting involved and providing hands on support and guidance, we are reducing recovery times and patients are more engaged in their treatment and overall health.”

Tailored Support For Clients
By offering this program, RBC Insurance clients who need support will receive help in accessing over 6,000 specialists across the country covering the full spectrum of healthcare conditions such as cancer, diabetes, arthritis, surgeries, coronary disease and orthopedics. This tailored medical support is available to RBC Insurance individual disability and critical illness policyholders and group short and long term disability clients.

“The majority of Canadians do not know what to do or where to turn when faced with a serious medical condition. The ever increasing wait times have become the norm, making it challenging even for primary care practitioners to find an available specialist,” said Angela Johnson, president of Medical Confidence. “We are delighted to be teaming with RBC Insurance. Through an innovative navigation platform we provide RBC clients a customized and caring approach to obtaining the right treatment at the right time. The result is reduced wait times and improved outcomes for patients.”
